The period also coincided with the erection of many important constructions and among these were tombs which today find space in Lodhi Garden.
The two most famous tomb in the garden are of Sikandar Lodi and Mohammed Shah, the individuals who controlled this landmark amid their rule over Delhi. The tombs reflect the magnificence of Islamic architecture by way of beautifully carved designs, representing massive architectural wonders from that period. Sikandar Lodi’s tomb was built in 1517 and is a predecessor to architectural designs that would later appear as characteristic forms during the Mughal period whose corbelling style towered over Islamic architecture.
